The University of Ilesa (UNILESA) and the Prototype Engineering Developments Institute (PEDI) have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to mark the commencement of a strategic partnership between both organisations aimed at advancing training and manpower development. the landmark event took place yesterday at the campus of the university. The event was graced by key representatives from both institutions. Representing the University of Ilesa were the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Taiwo Olufemi Asaolu; the Registrar, Mr Funso Ojo; the Bursar, Dr. Mukail Oyekanmi; Dr. A.A. Kehinde-Awoyele, Director of Internal Quality Assurance and Servicom; Dr. B.E. Olatundun, (Director of Academic Planning); and Mrs. Bola Arowosegbe, Deputy Registrar. The PEDI team was led by Mr. A.O. Hamzat, representing the overseeing officer, Engr. Dr. M.M. Oloruntoba, alongside Engr. M.O. Alege, Engr. Jade Ogundola, Engr. Dr. A.T. Taiwo, and Mr. O.K. Omotosho. In his opening remarks, Asaolu expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, while highlighting the journey that led to the signing of the MoU. He stated, “I am particularly delighted to be part of this epoch making occasion which marks the beginning of the official partnership between the University of Ilesa and Prototype Engineering Development Institute. You will recall that members of UNILESA Management paid a courtesy visit to PEDI on the 14th of March, 2024, and during the bilateral discussions, the two institutions agreed to enter into an MoU in the areas of machine and equipment fabrication as well as training of manpower.” Professor Asaolu further commended the six-man committee responsible for drafting the MoU, acknowledging their dedication and efficiency. Hamzat congratulated the Vice-Chancellor on the university’s achievements and emphasized the importance of the MoU. “This partnership between both parties is long overdue, and I believe it will usher us into a new era of innovation and collaboration,” he said. Hamzat added that the collaboration is poised to enhance the technical capabilities and professional development of both institutions, fostering a robust relationship that will benefit the broader community.
