About the Department

The Department of Islamic and Customary Law is one of three Departments approved by the University Senate upon the establishment of the Faculty of Law. The two other Departments are Department of Private and Commercial Law and the Department of Public and International Law. Some of the subject courses domiciled in the Department of Islamic and Customary Law are: Introduction to General Principle of Islamic Law; Arabic Language for Legal Studies; Ayat And Hadith Al –Ahkam; Islamic Law of Torts; Islamic Law of Crime; Muamalat (Islamic Law of Transaction); Islamic Family Law; Islamic Property Law; Islamic Company Law; Mirath & Wasiyya (Islamic Law of Inheritance); UsulFiqh (Islamic Jurisprudence); Murafa’at (Islamic law of Evidence & Procedure; Application of Sharia in Nigeria.
